Mark your calendars! This coming June 22, the Canisius College Wehle School of Business and the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society present an evening program titled "Developing the Larkin District: Past, Present, and Into the Future." Yours truly is one of four panelists.
This free event is open to the public and will take place Wednesday, June 22, 2011, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Montante Cultural Center at Canisius College. A reception, also free and open to the public, will begin at 6 p.m.
The public is invited to this free program featuring expert speakers on Buffalo’s first manufacturing district, the innovative Larkin Company, world-renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Larkin Administration Building, and the future of this historic district in the twenty-first century.
It’s a story with geographic, community, commerce, labor and creative elements, almost a microcosm of Buffalo itself. The comparison continues, with challenges, failures, and amazing successes - and always, hopes, dreams and plans. The public is encouraged to enjoy this rare opportunity to hear experts speak on this topic so deeply connected to Buffalo’s historic story.

* Jack Quinan, PhD, distinguished service professor, University at Buffalo: “Frank Lloyd Wright’s Larkin Administration Building: The Missing Link”
* Howard R. Stanger, PhD, professor, management and history, Canisius College: “Beyond Buffalo: The Larkin Company’s Success and Failure in National Context, 1875-1942”
* Howard Zemsky, managing partner, Larkin Development Group: “Redeveloping the Larkin District: A Vision for the Future”
