Developer Chris Jacobs becomes a pioneer in urban redevelopment of the Hydraulics in 2001 with the purchase of the former Buffalo Lounge Co. warehouse at 567 Exchange.
As Jacobs converts the upper two stories to artist studios, the 60,000 sq. ft., 4-story warehouse is quickly filled by creative industries tenants, including the quirky Coo Coo U and the Stock Exchange, setting the stage for the economic resurgence of the neighborhood.
"I acquired the building without a defined use and I fell in love with the building and its potential," Jacobs now reports. "567 Exchange Street is an evolving project and we will continue to reinvest and improve the building in the future. We are happy with the building's progress to date and the overall progress of the Larkin District."
